We as community members pledge to make participation in our commons and our community a harassment-free experience for everyone, regardless of age, personal appearance, disability, ethnicity, gender identity and expression, level of experience, education, socio-economic status, nationality, race, religion, or sexual identity and orientation.
The TEC operates from a prosocial, human centered perspective:
Prosocial - We value designs that create public goods over profit. Profit is not bad in and of itself, but providing services to support the TE community is more important. Indeed, profit is critical for our goal of creating a regenerative economy that supports the token engineering community.
Human centered - We encourage initiatives that are focused on using token engineering in an ethical manner and strive to only create positive impact.
We hold ourselves to high standards of safety, resilience and integrity:
Safety - Everyone should feel safe to be, interact and express their opinions and contributions free from any malicious reaction.
Resilience - We ask members of this community to communicate openly and to make an effort to maintain alignment with the TEC Mission, Vision and Values. If conflicts arise, we expect members to act peacefully towards a resolution and the restoration of harmony and efficiency. If needed, the Commons Stack can aid in facilitating a conflict resolution process.
Integrity - Honesty and consistency lead to trust, which is a core value of healthy communities. Our approach is to trust first, and any instances of scam, misleading, spam or defraud will be treated as a violation of this code of conduct.
We encourage our members to be radically open source, non-hierarchical, creative and transparent in their intentions and accountable for their actions:
Open source - Ideas are meant to be shared. We default to using GPLv3 and Creative Commons with attribution licensing on our work, but we accept all open source licenses.
Non-hierarchical - Everyone is encouraged to exercise their autonomy, creativity and full agency when acting in the Commons. Every individual is wise in their own manner, and the diversity of perspectives enriches our Commons.
Transparent - We value individuals' efforts to act transparently and to proactively identify their incentives, especially if there are conflicts of interest, especially when it comes to proposing, funding, work progress and other important activities involving the TE Commons.
Accountable - Community members are expected to be accountable for all their actions and commitments. Accountability brings trust, and trusting in each other is critical for our success.
We are value not profit driven and will strive to support token engineering projects that appreciate the worth of public goods and ethical, inclusive economic systems.
Value driven - we encourage members to support the token engineering field more so than the opportunity for token values to rise.
Token engineering projects - We organize action towards designing sustainable crypto economic systems.
Public goods - These are at the heart of collective action problems. Ostrom's concept for the same is "common pool resources".
Examples of behavior that contribute to creating a positive community environment include:
Using welcoming and inclusive language
Being respectful of differing viewpoints and experiences
Gracefully accepting constructive criticism
Focusing on what is best for the community
Showing empathy towards other community members
Examples of unacceptable behavior by participants include:
The use of sexualized language or imagery and unwelcome sexual attention or advances
Trolling, insulting/derogatory comments, and personal or political attacks
Public or private harassment
Publishing others' private information, such as a physical or electronic address, without explicit permission
Other conduct which could reasonably be considered inappropriate in a professional setting
Participants of the TEC are responsible for clarifying the standards of acceptable behavior and are expected to take appropriate and fair corrective action in response to any instances of unacceptable behavior.
Project maintainers have the right and responsibility to remove, edit or reject comments, commits, code, wiki edits, issues and other contributions that are not aligned to this Code of Conduct or to ban temporarily or permanently any contributor for other actions that they deem inappropriate, threatening, offensive or harmful.
This Code of Conduct applies within project spaces, as well as public spaces - online or offline, when an individual is representing the Commons or its community or interacting with other members. Examples of representing a project or community include using an official project e-mail address, posting via an official social media account or acting as an appointed representative at an online or offline event.
The placement of our rules is based on social agreements that are autonomous and built on the equality of access to the information that is stated in our own institutional terms & conditions, code of conduct and media of communication. There is a strong cultural fabric that aims to build trust, legitimacy, prevention and management of conflicts, so that there is mutual accountability on maintaining our Common Pool Resources.
Instances of abusive, harassing or otherwise unacceptable behavior may be reported by contacting Gravity through the Typeform.
All complaints will be reviewed and investigated and will result in a response that is deemed necessary and appropriate to the circumstances. The project team is obligated to maintain confidentiality with regard to the reporter of an incident. Further details of specific enforcement policies may be posted separately.
Project maintainers who do not follow or enforce the Code of Conduct in good faith may lose their legitimacy and likely be replaced by other community members.
This Code of Conduct is adapted from the Contributor Covenant, version 1.4, available here and was derived from Giveth’s modification of the original. It maintains alignment with the TE Code of Conduct from Cyprian and was edited by Livia, Lorelei, Griff and Suga.
